ACROSS THE MEDITERRANEAN

CURATED BY DI RISCHA PATERLINI

Inspired by the performance Crossing the Border realized last year at MIA PHOTO FAIR by Zoya Shokoohi (1987, Isfahan, Iran) and by the reading of A Journey to the End of the Millennium by Abraham B. Yehoshua, this section brings together the visual narratives of photography to tell stories where our sea does not serve as a border but becomes a bridge of connection between East and West, a thread that unites the cultural and historical diversities of lands reflected in the camera lens.

The exhibited images capture cultural multiplicity, reveal millennia-old history, and celebrate the extraordinary resilience of the people who inhabit these lands. Each photograph tells a unique story, offering an intimate look at daily life and experiences of those living in this region. Each shot becomes an opportunity to break down barriers and embrace the richness of the multiple perspectives that the Mediterranean and the Middle East offer to the world.
