THE INTERNATIONAL PHOTOGRAPHY ART FAIR IN ITALY
MIA Fair, conceived in 2011 from an idea of Fabio Castelli, is the most important art fair dedicated to photography in Italy. MIA Fair offers a unique approch by presenting Solo Show and Group Show with a specific curatorial project. MIA Fair was created with the aim of highlighting the transverse role that photography has come to play between the languages of expression of the contemporary art system.
EDUCATIONAL NATURE TRAINING EVENT FOR COLLECTING AWARE
MIA Fair provides a rich cultural program, with events and conferences dedicated to the world of art and photography, which aims to support a conscious collectors with insights and important guests in the Italian and international art scene.
MIA Fair offers the possibility to art collectors to enjoy a lively and innovative art event, experiencing a unique view in Italy on the photography art market, ranging from established to emerging artists. MIA Fair has achieved the result of creating a new collectors’ base which approaches contemporary art through the collection of photography.
MIA FAIR 2019 IN NUMBERS
More than 25.000 visitors attended to the 9th edition of MIA Fair, 85 galleries, almost a third of which coming from outside Italy; alongside them other 50 exhibitors, divided into special projects, media partners and publishers, bringing the total number of exhibitors to 135, within an exhibition area of 5.000 sq. mt.
During the days of the fair 5 prizes have been awarded: BNL BNP Paribas Group Award an acquisition award which enriches the Banks’s art collection, the MIA Photo Fair Architecture Photography Award, in partnership with Attilio Giaquinto’s Studio G*AA and with Tiziana Bonomo’s ArtPhotò, the prize takes into consideration the artists exhibiting their works within the Gallerie section and highlights the constant dialogue between photography and architecture, RaM Sarteano Award dedicated to the realization of a photographic exhibition at Rocca Manenti (located in Sarteano, Siena) addressed to Italian and foreign artists, the Rossana Orlandi Award dedicated to independent artists of MIA Proposal section, with an exhibition at Rossana Orlandi gallery in Milan and Codice MIA Award, the portfolio review dedicated to mid-career artists who intend to deal directly with international collectors. The first classified a prize of 7,000 euros, in addition to the free concession of a stand in the 2020 edition of MIA Fair in Milan. The second classified a prize of 3,000 euros.
