Winner VI Edition BNL BNP Paribas Group Award
Among the 15 finalists selected by the Scientific Committee of Mia Photo Fair, Claudio Gobbi (born in Ancona, 1971) has won the BNL Prize with the work “Ural Studies” exhibited by WE Gallery of Berlin.
According to the wording of the jury “We have granted the BNL Gruppo BNP Paris award to Claudio Gobbi for the extraordinary visual and knowledge strength of a journey towards the borders of Europe, a journey which is both photographic and descriptive. In a world whereby borders are back to the attention in a sort of negative way, the images of Gobbi seem to us as a magnificent warning, with Italian tradition and at the same time looking towards a horizon of complex language, crossdisciplinari, whose fundamental goal is the public knowledge”.
In addition, this year a special mention of the jury of the BNL Award is given to one photograph of Jee Young Lee (Opium Gallery) for his sophisticated work on the iconic construction and to the video of Brownyn Katz (Officine dell’immagine) for his formidable expressive capability reached at a very young age (she was born in 1993).
