Le nuove tecnologie e il digitale ci permettono di esplorare la realtà anche
attraverso la sua imitazione o attraverso la creazione di nuove realtà conoscibili.
Negli ultimi tempi stiamo assistendo ad un’ibridazione tra realtà e virtualità.
Questa ibridazione non svaluta l’esistente, piuttosto lo apre a nuove prospettive:
l’arte trasforma la realtà, la sovverte e ce la porge come strumento di reinvenzione
critica dei tempi moderni.
Per l’artista la realtà non è un concetto fermo ma piuttosto una condizione fluida
e soprattutto fragile che si manifesta come un’esperienza soggettiva condizionata
non solo da una componente culturale ma anche biologica.
Le opere cercano ridefinire il concetto di reale, cercando una strada possibile
attraverso l’uso di immagini e spazi tridimensionali presentati con un altissimo
livello di fotorealismo con l’idea di disorientare e rimescolare l’identità delle opere
stesse.
L’artista utilizza le nuove tecnologie per presentarci una ricerca personale che
passa da opere statiche fotorealistiche, definite dall’artista come vere e proprie
fotografie dello spazio virtuale che mutano nel tempo, opere realizzare con strumenti di intelligenza artificiale e machine learning.
Il reale entra nel virtuale per poi uscirne nuovamente, in un rapporto mutualistico

The new technologies and the digital ecosystem allow us to explore reality by imitating
it or by creating new knowable realities.
In recent times we are witnessing a hybridization between reality and virtuality. This
hybridization does not devalue the physical world, instead, it opens it to new
perspectives: art transforms reality, subverts it and offers it to us as an instrument of
critical reinvention of modern times.
For the artist, reality is not a fixed concept but rather a fluid and, above all, a
fragile phenomenon which manifests itself as a subjective experience conditioned
not only by a cultural but also by a biological component.
The works seeks to redefine the concept of reality, seeking a possible path through
the use of three-dimensional images and spaces presented with a high level of
photorealism, taking as a basis the idea of disorientation by mixing up the identity
of the works themselves.
The artist uses new technologies to present us with a personal approach that goes
from photorealistic static works made in computer graphics and defined by the
artist as photographs of the virtual space, works created with the help of artificial
intelligence and machine learning.
The physical world enters the virtual and then emerges again, in a mutualistic relationship.

Giuseppe Lo Schiavo (Italia, 1986) è un pluripremiato artista visivo che lavora tra Londra e Milano.

La sua ricerca mira a creare un ponte tra arte e scienza. Il lavoro dell'artista presenta spesso una narrazione post-umana e l'uso di tecnologia e scienza come l’intelligenza artificiale, machine learning, realtà virtuale, sistemi a infrarossi o microrganismi in laboratorio.

Nel 2021 Lo Schiavo è stato proclamato vincitore del progetto europeo BioArt Challenge organizzato dal Museo delle Scienze MUSE in Italia e il primo artista ad essere ammesso come artista in residenza all'università dell'UCL di Londra all'interno del laboratorio di microbiologia.

Le opere di Lo Schiavo sono state esposte in numerose mostre internazionali in musei e gallerie di tutto il mondo, tra cui la Saatchi Gallery di Londra, Aperture Foundation New York, HOW art museum Shanghai, Mana Contemporary New Jersey, LACDA Los Angeles, Times Square NYC, Sea World Culture and Arts Center in Shenzen, China, LA Show, Istanbul Contemporary, Abay Opera House in Kazakistan e molti altri.
