La Quadreria d’arte è un lavoro composto da migliaia di pezzi, ognuno dei quali dedicato alla
riproduzione in cartolina di opere di grandi del passato. L’operazione di Giannetto Bravi è consistita in un rigoroso e imperterrito catalogare le opere conservate nei musei da lui visitati in vita. Si tratta di una raccolta famelica di cartoline illustrate e acquisite nei bookshop: l’artista le cerca, le sceglie, le acquista, le cataloga, le numera, le ordina, le compone, le incornicia e infine le mostra, le dona di nuovo alla vista dell’amatore d’arte, ma solo dopo averle manipolate concettualmente.
Giannetto Bravi non si limita a fantasticare o desiderare e, colla alla mano, ha allestito il suo museo dei sogni, generosamente invitandoci poi a visitarlo. Sotto la sua guida: ne è il custode, il conservatore, il direttore. Il cuore del suo lavoro sta nell’essere riuscito a ribaltare la prospettiva comune. L’immagine appassiona l’artista, ma proprio mentre una sequenza ininterrotta di composizione di cartoline, di visioni fugaci e superficiali ci rende quasi incapaci di osservarle con attenzione e di andare oltre la loro superficialità, egli ci fa capire come l’immagine, centro da sempre della riflessione artistica, debba ritornare a essere veicolo di contenuti ulteriori. Con precisione e costanza egli interpreta a modo suo il capolavoro, restituendocelo riprodotto in serie, sfumandone l’aura e utilizzandolo, quasi fosse un segno pittorico, un elemento cromatico e materico, per dar vita alla sua nuova opera.

The Quadreria d’arte is a complex work composed by thousands of pieces, each one is dedicated to the re production like postcards of works of big artists of the past. Giannetto Bravi’s operation consisted of a strict and undismayed classification of the works preserved in the museums that He visited during his life. It’s about a collection of postcards illustrated and bought in the bookshops: Bravi searched them, He chose them, He bought them, He classified them with a number. Then He le organized them and He put them in order, He frame them and at the end He showed them. After a conceptual manipulation He offered them again to the view of the art’s lover. It seems He wanted to declare that “I was there!” as nowadays happens for example with selfies in the museums. The Quadreria is a visual manifesto, altough Bravi recreated only a virtual place, where all the works of art lost their greatness and their originating aura, in order to be democratically given like a meal to the big public. The artist is proclaimed himself as guardian of the “quadreria” like watcher of the MUSEUM OF THE MUSEUMS, but in reality He is a perfect interpreter of how today the world of art is rearranged to the new system of fruition and of valorisation.
