Leaving simply and especially without established program to see and why not, understand, I approach West Africa (Burkina Faso, Mali, Senegal, Benin and Guinea Conakry) first in 1993 and then 1996/97, with stays ranging from five months to fourteen months.
Since Africa owns me.
With a ferocious desire during these wanderings to show an Africa not stigmatized by all the evils through which it is shown (wars, epidemics, famines, etc.)
I wanted to approach these countries, these cultures with as few aprioris as possible, to try to have a new look, to forget if possible all our received ideas, all made to be able to receive at best all these new data, to be as close to this earth as possible, of the intimacy created with the men who inhabit it.
To present it in a human light, an Africa in search of harmony and balance.
These photographs were taken at the meetings and friendships gathered throughout these trips.

Born in Brussels (European capital, and its king’s palace).
As a child, hand in hand with his father, travels through the Museum of Central Africa. Took the courses of photographer Hubert Grooteclaes in Liège.
With Coco, travel whenever they can, not by bike, sometimes by train.
Don’t talk about it.
For not wanting to go, drinks a few rum in Havana.
4 November 1999, Salome is there.
A little further, pushed by Jean-Louis Godefroid, the book Odeurs d'Afrique, co-published Contretype/ La lettre volée.
Somewhere in Palestine, confronted with realities, he says that he cannot - or more - not see.
In intermittent of dad and photographer, gets lost on the side of Burners, on the track that connects Niger to
North of Morocco. - Burners: name given to people who clandestinely want, from North Africa,
to Europe. A book was published by Yellow Now in 2006.
Attracted by light, one day in 2004, turns to «Le Réverbère». Since 2006, has been surveying Ethiopia and the Lucy site.
And for the rest we’ll see.
