Nata a Teheran nel 1973, Niloufar Banisadr vive e lavora ormai da anni a Parigi.
Definisce il suo lavoro come concettuale, narrativo, contrastante, armonioso ed estetico.
 
Sono più di vent'anni che lavora sull'autoritratto. Tutto è iniziato quando il suo lavoro da studentessa è stato sottoposto a una dura censura, mettendo in pericolo la sua famiglia, in quel momento ha giurato che nessuno sarebbe più stato vulnerabile a causa della sua arte.
Da allora ha dimostrato come si possa trovare il successo commerciale nell'arte senza sacrificare le sue convinzioni più profonde. La sua arte è genuinamente politica, saggia e colorata, mentre porta con sé dimensioni sensuali e universali.
Dalla fine degli anni '90, Niloufar ha presentato una nuova serie di fotografie ogni due anni circa, traendo ispirazione dalle sue radici iraniane, dalla sua condizione femminile e da una selvaggia voglia di viaggiare.
Attraverso le sue opere (Mes Voyages & Dieu e Mon Droit), Niloufar ha sempre illustrato lo scontro di civiltà da quando si è trasferita in Francia 15 anni fa. La sua arte mescola culture e religioni, figure contemporanee e storiche, meraviglie della natura e creazione dell'uomo... Ogni foto è una sintesi emozionale a più livelli. Al di là di una semplicità efficace e diretta, le sue immagini sono una fonte perpetua di domande sulle nostre contraddizioni interiori e sul ruolo della religione nelle nostre vite, mentre mettono in evidenza l'informazione caotica proveniente dai nuovi media e dalle tecnologie.
 
Mentre Niloufar gioca costantemente con le apparenze e le manipolazioni, con i contorni figurativi e astratti per evitare la semplicità o il "populismo" nelle sue opere più politiche. In entrambe le serie, gli occhi dell'artista guardano direttamente nei nostri: parla da sola. D'altra parte, le poche immagini in cui ci volta le spalle portano un messaggio collettivo.
 

Born in Tehran in 1973, Niloufar Banisadr now lives and works in Paris. She defines her work as conceptual, narrative, contrasting, harmonious and aesthetic.
 
She has been practicing self-portraiture for 20 years. It all started when her student work was subjected to harsh censorship, putting her family in danger. She vowed never again to leave anyone vulnerable because of her art. She has since proved how commercial success can be found in art without sacrificing her innermost convictions.
Her art is genuinely political, wise and colourful, while carrying sensual and universal dimensions. Since the late 1990s, Niloufar has presented a new series of photographs every two years or so, drawing inspiration from her Iranian roots, her feminine condition and a wild wanderlust.
Through her works (Mes Voyages & Dieu and Mon Droit), Niloufar has always illustrated the clash of civilizations since she moved to France 15 years ago. Indeed, her art mixes cultures and religions, contemporary and historical figures, wonders of nature and man's creation... Each photo is a multi-layered emotional synthesis. Beyond an effective and direct simplicity, his images are a perpetual source of questions about our inner contradictions and the role of religion in our lives while highlighting the chaotic information coming from new media and technologies.
 
While Niloufar constantly plays with appearances and manipulations, her eyes in the photographs convey a powerful emotion as they seem to change appearance. Niloufar plays with figurative and abstract contours to avoid simplicity or "populism" in her more political works. In both series, the artist's eyes look directly into ours: she speaks for herself. On the other hand, the few pictures where she turns her back on him carry a collective message.
