Appassionato di fotografia Mathieu Walter comincia a lavorare all’età di 18 anni come fotografo di moda. In parallelo segue dei corsi di arte plastica a Parigi. In seguito alla collaborazione con alcune riviste, come « ritrattista », elabora una tecnica tutta personale, che sarà l’oggetto di una mostra personale, organizzata da Sophie Bernardin, al Club de l’Etoile a Parigi, che poi sarà riproposta a Singapore.
Il suo lavoro di « ritrattista » continua sotto una forma inattesa, quella dei ritratti di vita delle serie ‘Tout un monde’ e ‘Windows’, in cui utilizza delle persone anonime, che possono identificarsi con lo spettatore. Visione originale di una forma di teatro urbano che diventa la sua firma. Non c’è alcun rapporto con il soggetto salvo la volontà di ‘osservare questa poesia del quotidiano’.
Dal 2004, l’artista espone regolarmente a Parigi, Cannes, Saint-Tropez, Londra.
Passionate about photography, Mathieu Walter started working at the age of 18 as a fashion photographer. At the same time he took courses in plastic art in Paris. After working with several magazines as a "portraitist", he developed a very personal technique, which was the subject of a solo exhibition organized by Sophie Bernardin at the Club de l'Etoile in Paris, which was then shown again in Singapore.
His work as a "portraitist" continued in an unexpected form, that of the life portraits in the 'Tout un monde' and 'Windows' series, in which he used anonymous people who could identify with the spectator. An original vision of a form of urban theatre that becomes his signature. There is no relationship with the subject except the desire to 'observe this poetry of the everyday'.
Since 2004, the artist has exhibited regularly in Paris, Cannes, Saint-Tropez and London.
