ARTCO presents Fritz' long-term (2014-2019) art project LIKE A BIRD - a documentary of circus performers in regions known for troubled politics and dire living conditions. This series captures the existence of acrobats, clowns and animal tamers - their individual quest for happiness and a society in peace.
In Gaza, a tumbler boy said he feels “like a bird” when he goes out into the manège. The photos there were taken in 2016 and show a Palestine that doesn't exist anymore. Looking at the reports from Gaza in 2024, Fritz’ photos not just celebrate creativity, but became historic documents.
