“Greenhouses & Gardens” è una ricerca che Isabella Gherardi porta avanti fino dagli esordi, da circa trenta anni.
Il soggetto è la natura ritratta in giardini botanici e serre, combinando fotografia e disegno a grafite. Le immagini catturate con l’Hasselblad vengono poi rielaborate in studio in raffinati collage, sia manuali che digitali, che si fondono con disegni e leggere velature di colore. Tutto questo conferisce alla nuova immagine un’ aura di rarefazione. La realtà viene trasfigurata in atmosfera sospesa e fuori dal tempo.
“Greenhouses & Gardens” is a research that Isabella Gherardi has been carrying out since the beginning, for about thirty years.
The subject is nature portrayed in botanical gardens and greenhouses, combining photography and graphite drawing. The images captured with the Hasselblad are then reworked in the studio in refined collages, both manual and digital, which blend with drawings and light shades of color. All this gives the new image an aura of rarefaction. Reality is transfigured into a suspended and timeless atmosphere.

Isabella Gherardi vive e lavora a Roma. La sua ricerca artistica si muove tra disegno, fotografia, pittura, installazione e scultura in marmo.
Tra i cicli di lavori ricordiamo: “Serre”, sul tema della natura; la serie “Bilder”, sul nudo femminile e disegno a china; “Fayum”, autoritratti fotografici e foglia d'oro; “Miti”, ritratti immaginari di eroine femminili; “Autoritratti”, acquerelli stratificati di volti e corpi femminili; “Still Lives”, opere fotografiche dove predomina lo studio del colore.
“Serre” è una ricerca che l'artista porta avanti sin dagli esordi e ha come soggetto la natura, gli orti botanici e le serre. I soggetti ripresi con la Hasselblad vengono poi rielaborati in studio unendo raffinati collage, disegni molto fini e sfumature di colore molto chiare. Tutto ciò conferisce alla nuova immagine un'aura di rarefazione. La realtà si trasfigura in un'atmosfera sospesa e senza tempo.
Le sue opere sono presenti in importanti collezioni pubbliche e private tra cui Ludwig Collection, Aachen; Museo Pecci, Prato; Sammlung SpallArt, Salisburgo; Collezione UniCredit Group, Milano; Museo della contea di Los Angeles.
Isabella Gherardi lives and works in Rome. Her artistic research moves between drawing, photography, painting, installation and marble sculpture.
Among the cycles of works we remember: “Greenhouses”, on the theme of nature; the “Bilder” series, on the female nude and china ink drawing; “Fayum”, photographic self-portraits and gold leaf; “Myths”, imaginary portraits of female heroes; “Self-portraits”, layered watercolors of female faces and bodies; “Still Lives”, photographic works where the study of color predominates.
