Nel 2017 Mendini scrive a proposito delle edizioni di alcuni suoi oggetti storici:
“Se guardo dentro gli spazi un po’ siderali della mia mente, vedo passare, avvicinarsi, allontanarsi o scomparire, molti degli oggetti che ho ideato nel corso degli anni. Quasi fossero degli astri, essi sviluppano traiettorie e ricorrenze, alcuni si perdono per sempre, altri hanno orbite più frequenti e ravvicinate. Ce ne sono certi che non sfuggono come meteore o comete, ma che si configurano come dei capisaldi della mia storia, sono i miei pianeti, sono presenze insistenti che cerco spesso di indagare per capirne meglio l’essenza, il carattere e il significato. Quasi un gioco mitologico, il bisogno di fissare il moto incerto e oscillante della mia mente attorno a questi punti di sicurezza, ne ho così rilevato la materia e la geografia, ho tentato di estrarne l’aurea e l’energia, facendoli riapparire sotto forma di piccole e precise reliquie.”

In 2017 Mendini writes about the editions of some of his historical objects:
“If I look inside myself the sideral spaces of my mind, I see many of the objects I have designed in the course of the years pass by, approach, float away or disappear. Like stars, they develop their own trajectories and often recur, some get lost for ever and some others have more frequent and nearer orbits. Some never escape like meteors or comets, on the contrary, they are the cornerstones of my history. They are my planets, a recurring presence that I often try to investigate to better understand their essence, character and meaning. A sort a mythological game, the need to fix the uncertain and swinging mmovement of my mind around these points of safety. I have studied their substance and geography, I have tried to gain their aura and energy, thus giving them a new birth in the form of small and precise relics.”

Alessandro Mendini (1931-2019), architetto è nato a Milano. Ha diretto le riviste Casabella, Modo, Domus. Ha collaborato con aziende internazionali ed è stato consulente di diverse industrie, anche in Estremo Oriente. Ha ricevuto il Compasso d'Oro per il design (1979-1981-2014), lo Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres in Francia, l'Architectural League di New York e la Laurea Honoris Causa presso le università di Milano, Parigi, Wroclaw, Seoul . Sue opere si trovano in vari musei e collezioni private.
Alessandro Mendini (1931-2019), architect was born in Milan. He has directed the magazines Casabella, Modo, Domus. He has collaborated with international companies and has been a consultant to various industries, including in the Far East. He was awarded the Compasso d'Oro for design (1979-1981-2014), the Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres in France, the Architectural League of New York and the Laurea Honoris Causa at the universities of Milan, Paris, Wroclaw, Seoul. His works is found in various museums and private collections.
