MIA PHOTO FAIR 2013

MIA Photo Fair, for the third year, confirms its annual event at the exhibition space of Superstudio Più in Milan. As in past editions, the selection of exhibitors (galleries, independent photographers, specialized editors from Italy, Europe, USA, Brazil and Asia) has been curated by the MIA Photo Fair Scientific Committee.
The main innovations of this third edition are:
- Codice MIA, an entirely new and innovative portfolio reading, totally focused on the photographic market, as well as a unique opportunity for artists to meet the industry’s top opinion leaders;
- Project “A quattro mani”, a type of experience involving both the photographer and the printer, engaged in the joint realization of art works that will be proposed by the double signature, securing the association of the two figures, similar to what was found in the ancient times between the authors and printers of the engravings;
- “L’angolo del collezionista”, an entire area dedicated to collectors interested in receiving exhibitor’s advice on conservation, enhancement, lighting and protection of works, restoration and conservation professionals, professional framing and on insurance companies covering the risks of an art collection;
- First edition of “Archivi Aperti”, realized in collaboration with Eberhard&Co and IO Donna, a very interesting initiative in the panorama of Italian photography involving a curatorial board commissioned to select the most worthy Italian archival institution devoted to photography, rewarding the winner with a fund of 8.000 € for cataloging, digitizing and preserving its works.
In continuity with the other editions and after the great results obtained, the section Proposta MIA was very successful: the intention of MIA Photo Fair to propose selected photographers from its Scientific Committee, offering galleries the opportunity to get in touch with new proposals, has achieved a very satisfying result since among the approx.. 25 artists presented in each edition, over 50% of them, have come the following year represented by a gallery.
