At Mia Photo Fair we will present Gilles Lorin (*1973, Aix-en-Provence) and Charles Johnstone (*1952, New York).
Our selection shows a variety of techniques and subjects by these two very different artists. While Lorin uses a large-format camera and considers the printing process as important as the image itself, Johnstone´s focus lies on the composition. He is looking for lonely places with bright and luminous colors and often publishes these subject matters in series. The Artist Photographer and printmaker Gilles Lorin works with historical and traditional techniques; he carefully choses each process, precious metal and paper. Whether it is a portrait in platinum-palladium or his exquisite works on pure gold-leaf, he captures the soul and essence of the subject, shielding it magnificently from the flight of time. He utilizes long forgotten techniques such as the wet plate collodion process to create prints which are like objects unto themselves. We will show a group of spectacular platinum-palladium prints by the artist.
