Andrew Tshabangu, born in 1966 in Soweto, lives and works in Johannesburg. His photography
has been exhibited internationally and is renowned for documenting the daily rituals of black
communities in urban Africa. As an attentive observer, Tshabangu is drawn to ordinary subjects
and their nuanced intricacies. His photographs are saturated with a sense of quietness that
captures the human spirit – a spirit of hope, courage and determination.
